Do you Really need a Degree to succeed in your profession

It seems that what ever we are studying for our Bachelors as well as as Masters will be useless for most of the people.. In fact some of them are wasting at least 6 years of our life. If they can do some fruitful work within that time as this guy did (see the link below) , then it will be great (less education investment, more productive time, more passionate )

Now a days after the B.Tech most the guys are joining in Banking sector or similar fields. Don't know what Engineering has to do with Banking...
